“Over the last year I have been working specifically with the felting properties of wool and the natural curling phenomenon of hair fibres (Frizz). Mentored by Helene Steiner, I proposed manipulating hair proteins at a molecular level to harness their curling properties – a concept which is being exhibited at Open Cell as part of the London Design Festival in September 2019 and was previously featured at the SynBiTech 2019 Synthetic Biology conference in June. I have since been invited by leading professor in the programmable materials field Lining Yao, to continue developing this work in collaboration with the Morphing Matter and Textiles Labs at Carnegie Mellon University.”
